Anthony (AJ) attends Columbia High School. AJ led the Columbia JV team in hitting as a freshman in 2010. A valuable addition to the Melvin Roads team, AJ will be expected to pitch and play outfield. AJ is a power hitter that will play well beyond his youth. A talented young arm with a velocity in the low to mid 80s, AJ will get the experience he needs to excel at the next level. Ian Bennett # 23 Ian attends Albany Academy and comes to Melvin Roads following a few very successful seasons with the Spring Renegades baseball program. A proven winner with determination and heart, Ian will be expected to play first base and DH. His offensive ability will certainly put runs on the board for Melvin Roads this season. Zeb Gaston # 8 Zeb is a second year returning player with Melvin Roads. Zeb attends Troy High and will be expected to anchor the middle of the infield. A scrappy, never quit attitude propels Zeb to play beyond his years. A true student of the game, Zeb will play steady defense, have great plate appearances, and take every advantage offered to him by the opposition. Zeb will also help with the pitching duties. Christian Brown #5 A returning player to Melvin Roads, Christian attends Columbia High as a three year Varsity player. Christian possesses both speed and power. Christian (CB) is very athletic, has a strong arm, and quick hands. Christian will be expected to lead the offense and play shortstop or patrol the outfield. Matt Kasper #10 Matt attends Hudson Valley Community College. Matt will be expected to anchor the catching duties. A strong defensive catcher, Matt will be expected to mentor the pitching staff and be a team leader. Offensively, Matt is a steady offensive player who hits for contact and power. An exceptional student, Matt hopes to continue his education at RPI in the field of Engineering.

Jesse begins his third season with Melvin Roads. A senior at Troy High, Jesse will be expected to lead the Melvin Roads pitching staff this season. In 2009, as a 16 year old, Jesse pitched a 4 hit, 9 inning complete game at the Regional Tournament in West Virginia. Jesse is looking to attend SUNY IT in Utica for his college education and baseball career. John Stanley #14 John attends Columbia High School. John was the quarterback on the Columbia High football team. John possesses exceptional speed and a strong throwing arm; and as such will be patrolling the outfield this season for Melvin Roads. A certain threat to steal bases, John will be generating the offense to score runs. John's athletic ability will be a valuable component to the team this season. Matt Terry # 12 Matt attends Columbia High School and will be expected to play outfield and take a routine turn on the pitching mound. A strong leader and intelligent player, Matt works at all aspects of the game. Matt is a smooth outfielder and his pitching will also help Melvin Roads this season. Matt Raymond # 20 Matt attends Columbia High. A first year player for Melvin Roads, coming over from the very successful South Troy Dodgers program, Matt will be expected to lead the pitching staff. He possesses a blazing fastball and will surprise hitters with an assortment of off speed pitches. Matt has been a successful pitcher at every level of his development going back to his dominance in East Greenbush Little League. Jonas Godell # 11 Jonas attends Columbia High School. He will be expected to play the outfield as well as take the baseball to the pitching mound. Jonas possesses exceptional foot speed and hits for power. He will be a major run producer with his consistent bat and aggressive offensive approach to the game.

Zach attends Skaker High School. A strong hitter, who will be expected to be a major run producer for Melvin Roads this season, Zach has great infield skills. He will anchor the corner infield positions and pitch on a regular basis. A power arm with great mechanics and control, Zach will be a key component of the Melvin Roads staff. Anthony Ragosta #3 A second year American Legion player, Anthony attends Troy High and will be expected to anchor the catching responsibilities for this year's Melvin Roads baseball team. Anthony works hard in the classroom as well as behind the plate. Anthony expects to attend SUNY IT and major in Engineering in the Fall. Greg Ruddy #4 Greg attends Troy High and comes to Melvin Roads from the very successful Spring Renegades program. A smooth infielder with soft hands, Greg will be expected to play 3rd and shortstop. Greg is a contact hitter with great speed. A hard worker, Greg will be exciting to watch this season. Christian Maldonado # 13 Christian attends Troy High. A soft spoken player who does most of his talking with his field performance, Christian will pitch, play 3rd base, and the outfield. A very talented player with great velocity, Christian is very composed on the pitching mound despite his youth. Christian's older brother, Anabel was a major contributor to the 2009 Melvin Roads NYS Championship team. Joe Jordan #7 Joe attends Troy High. He will be expected to play the outfield this season for Melvin Roads. Joe possesses exceptional speed. He can turn the game around with a stolen base or take the extra base; not to mention running down every fly ball hit near him. Joe has a quick bat and should be fun to watch this season.

Marc Peluso played for Melvin Roads for three seasons culminating with the 2007 New York State American Legion Championship team. Following his Melvin Roads playing days, Marc immediately became an assistant coach to Curtis Nobles and contributed his baseball knowledge and skill to mold the 2009 New York State Championship team. This season will be Marc's second as Manager. Marc is dedicated to baseball fundamentals as the cornerstone to improving player ability. A graduate of SUNY Brockport with a Physical Education degree with Sport Management concentration, Marc looks forward to improving the skill and playing abilities of this year's aspiring group of young adult baseball players. |
Curtis Nobles played four seasons with Melvin Roads pitching the only perfect game in Melvin Roads history in 1996. Curtis assisted Dave Hennessey on the Melvin Roads staff then became Manager in 2007. In his first season as Manager, Curtis led Melvin Roads to the New York State Championship. Two seasons later in 2009, Curtis again led that group of young, local baseball players to the New York State Championship. Two State Championships in three successive seasons is quite an accomplishment! That is a testament to Curtis' drive and ambition to work on baseball fundamentals and allow every player the opportunity to reach their potential through hard work and determination. A graduate of SUNY Brockport, Curtis is currently the baseball coach at Troy High School. |
Matt Murphy played three seasons with Melvin Roads. Matt was a valuable component to the 2009 New York State Championship team. Matt brings extensive baseball knowledge and a supportive attitude to the coaching staff. As a former catcher, Matt will be expected to work with pitchers and catchers to improve their skill development and knowledge of the game. Matt is currently a Business student at Siena College. |
